Crispy Baked Sesame Tofu

Crispy baked tofu is one of my favourite things to add to any meal or simply just straight up snack on.  Serve upon a bed of noodles with some token greens.  A little sauce goes a long way as well as that final sprinkling of sesame seeds.

Servings: 2
Preparation Time - 10 minutes
Cooking Time : 30 minutes

For the Tofu

1 block of tofu, drained and diced
2 tsp arrowroot, tapioca, or cornstarch
½ tbsp tamari or soy sauce
½ tbsp Organic Kitchen extra virgin olive oil (or sesame oil)

For the Sauce

60ml soy sauce or tamari
2 tbsp water
2 tsp maple syrup
½ tsp chilli flakes or chilli paste
1 tsp rice wine vinegar
1 tsp arrowroot or cornstarch

To Serve

Noodles of choice (I personally like udon or ramen)
Fresh broccoli, steamed or roasted
Just Natural Organic sesame seeds, black and white

How to Make it

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Place tofu in a bowL, cover with the tamari or soy sauce, the olive or sesame oil, and then add in the starch.
  3. Place on a baking tray and bake for 25 minutes, tossing halfway through.
  4. Cook noodles according to the packet’s instructions.
  5. Whisk together all sauce ingredients.
  6. Once the tofu is cooked, add your sauce to a pan.  Allow to heat through for just a minute or two before adding in the tofu and tossing to coat.
  7. Serve on a bed of noodles with broccoli (or other preferred green veggies) and sprinkle with black and white sesame seeds to serve.
